International Gateways students are required to purchase the student health insurance plan before your arrival in the United States. Dependents of F-1 Students are also recommended to have health insurance while they are in the United States.

If you have a life threatening emergency, go to the Emergency Room or call 911. The Emergency Room usually sees the most urgent patients first. If it is urgent but not life threatening, you can go to an urgent care center which will usually cost you less money.

Student Health Center
The Student Health Center provides medical care to students enrolled at SJSU. In addition to treating acute conditions, injuries, and illnesses, the Health Center provides a family planning program and maintains an in-house licensed pharmacy, a physical therapy department, a federally certified high complexity laboratory, and an x-ray department.
